Who Pays the Credit Card Fees?

We are seeing this everywhere post covid, businesses charging the consumer their credit card fees. During Covid we were forced in many place to use credit and debit cards only. Cash was bad. Post Covid what businesses have learned is my time is money and I can hire employees that don’t know how to think. In a cash sale change must be made, the cash taken, counted, stored and deposited. There is no way to do a mobile deposit on cash. Businesses have learned that credit card purchases actually save them in long run. There is no incorrect change to be given back and to handling of the money.

I accept both cash and credit card. I have a firm belief that I will never charge my customers to may my business fees. The credit card processing fee is on me as the business owner. I believe it is wrong to ask my customer to make my life easier by using a credit or debit card then ask them to pay for it. I know vendors that say they just cannot afford to pay the fees. In my opinion that is an excuse to see how much they can squeeze the customer for. Until next time, start small, think big and bring your best to the booth.
